Conference Presentation at "eLearning Forum Asia"

Held from 15 to 16 July 2026, the eLearning Forum Asia on Education (eLFA2026) featured an invited keynote address delivered by Professor KWOK Wai Luen. Devoted to the theme “Education Refined and Reinvented in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” the conference examined the evolving roles of AI in educational theory and practice.

Andrew Wai-Luen Kwok. Integrating AI into Transdisciplinary General Education: Curriculum Development and Pedagogical Training. Paper presented at the eLearning Forum Asia on Education. 15 - 16 July 2026. Taipei, Taiwan. 

 

Abstract: 
Hong Kong Baptist University has established a comprehensive Human-centered AI Literacy (HAIL) framework to integrate artificial intelligence into its General Education curriculum. The initiative transitions AI from a niche technical subject to a foundational academic competency comparable to numeracy and critical thinking. This educational model is built upon four strategic pillars: ensuring students are AI-critical regarding limitations, AI-empowering in their creative agency, AI-ethical in their social responsibility, and AI-human by prioritizing human judgment in collaboration. Through a developmental scaffolding approach, students progress from basic conceptual awareness to complex, real-world capstone projects across various disciplines. Quantitative and qualitative evidence indicates that this transdisciplinary strategy successfully bridges the gap between science and non-science majors. Ultimately, the program prepares graduates to navigate a generative AI landscape with both technical fluency and a strong commitment to the social good.
