Recognition from the Selection Panel

Prof. Checketts teaches several GE courses including “GFVM1037 Ideologies, Worldviews and Modern History”, “GFVM1046 The Meaning of Love, Sex and the Body” and “GTCU2066 Film and Philosophy”.

The Panel commends Prof. Checketts’ ability to design and implement courses that not only demonstrate a strong command of his field but also effectively align with the GE teaching philosophy. His presentation is an outstanding example of how to integrate pedagogies with demonstrable learning outcomes.

The Panel also recognises Prof. Checketts’ active participation in and leadership of GE-related activities. He is a pioneer in using the Tin Ka Ping Character and Ethics Development Scheme to organise an experiential learning trip to Macau for his students. To further contribute to the GE community, he has encouraged his student and Teaching Assistant to share the successful outcomes of this trip by presenting their experience at the “Experience Sharing and Dialogue in Character Education” event. The Panel lauds his commitment to guiding students through complex, transdisciplinary projects that integrated empirical study, technical simulation, and moral reflection, thereby fostering critical thinking and a deep sense of inquiry.

The Panel recommends Prof. Checketts for the Honourable Mention to recognise his meaningful effort and devotion to the delivery of GE courses.
