Uncover the Missing Maps with Big Data

banner_missing_map

An innovative, interactive and entertaining volunteering event to raise awareness on Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) and a special opportunity to participate in digital humanitarian action for operational needs.

Step 1: Bring your own laptop, mouse (recommended) and your enthusiasm!
Step 2: Be part of the global collaborative project – Missing Maps Mapathon*.
Step 3: Learn how to trace satellite imagery into OpenStreetMap^.

*A Mapathon is an amazing opportunity for volunteers to digitally connect and map the most vulnerable places in the developing world so that locals and international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) can use these maps and data to better respond to crises affecting these areas. Mapathon volunteers have a real impact on the delivery of healthcare in the field.

^The idea is simple: you will be comparing satellite images and adding buildings and/or roads to a shared online map. This map will then be made available for all humanitarian organisations worldwide.
