Abstract

The internet has tremendous possibilities as an instructional tool.  This is due to both its capacity for expanding and extending curricula and programmes as well as its ability to facilitate new and highly effective teaching modalities.  This workshop will consider these possibilities and then focus on some of the emerging best-practices in online and blended learning.  In addition, research on the effectiveness of online instruction will be examined.

Dr. Douglas Roscoe is currently working on general education curriculum and instruction.  He has been teaching online for over a decade and has served as a faculty mentor in a Sloan Foundation-granted project on blended learning.  In addition to his published research on political science topics, his scholarship on blended and online learning has been published in the Journal of Political Science Education.
