GE Off Campus: Raleigh Hong Kong Assessment Weekend

Would you like to serve remote communities in other countries?

Do you wish an opportunity outside HK which allows you to be a volunteer and to explore your own potential?

Do you want to live and work with volunteers from different cultural backgrounds?

Are you interested in visiting some natures which are not easy accessible by travelers or locals?

Do you know that lots of young HK representatives have gained long-lasting impacts on their personal development from the Scheme?

 

Raleigh Hong Kong is a registered charity that allow youngsters engage in sustainable community and environmental projects in  Tanzania, Nepal, Malaysia Borneo, Costa Rica and Nicaragua . Before setting off for the journey, selected members can earn sponsorship for their trips by participating in local volunteer service. The next round of Assessment Weekend will be held on 1-2 April 2017.

 

Event & Registration Details

Sponsored Session 1-2 April 2017 (Sat-Sun)
Fee HK$400 (GE Off Campus will sponsor HK$200 for each student)
Eligibility Full-time UGC-funded undergraduates of HKBU
How to get the sponsorship?
  1. Apply for the activity by yourself. (Complete and submit registration online: http://goo.gl/YHOkPn and http://goo.gl/JjnrsD. Limited seats are available and first-come-first-served.  Seat will be confirmed after receiving application fee at $400 via bank transfer (HSBC a/c #502-002322-005).  The applicants have to provide bank receipt by email or fax after making payment.)
  2. Attend the event on time.
  3. Submit “Reflective Journal” to ge@hkbu.edu.hk within 10 days after attending the event.
  4. After receiving the confirmation email, bring your student ID card and the attendance proof (which shows the event name, date, and the fee paid), and collect the sponsorship in person at the GE Office (AAB805).
Content of Reflective Journal Students can write the Reflective Journal in English (at least 350 words).

 

Suggested content:
Q1. What was your expectation before joining the event? (Writing in English: at least 100 words)
Q2. After attending the event, what did you learn? What impressions/reflections/thoughts did you have? (Writing in English: at least 250 words)

Registration Method From 4 Sep to 8 Sep 2017 (Mon to Fri), bring along your student ID card and pay $50 deposit in cash at the GE Office (AAB805, 10am to 12:45pm, 2:30pm to 5:45pm). The deposit will be refunded to students who attend the activity and submit reflective journals on time. Limited quotas. First come, first served!
Remarks: To let more students learn about the importance of mental wellness and the methods of upcycling, each student can only register for one activity under the “New Life Series”.
