Theme
All entries should be able to demonstrate, with creative ideas, the good experiences and learning outcomes of General Education courses under the new GE programme of HKBU.

 

Eligibility

All HKBU students of UGC-funded programmes are eligible. Each entry can be submitted by an individual or a group of not more than four students.

 

Entry Requirement

Video Animation
  • Genre: Drama, Documentary, etc.
  • Minimum Running Time: 30 Seconds (not including title screen)
  • Maximum Running Time: 1.5 Minutes (not including title screen)
  • Format: .mp4 /.mov
  • Subtitle: Chinese and English subtitles should be provided
  • Videos may be created by using any production techniques (iPhone, digital video, etc)
  • Type: 2D, 3D, Stop-Motion, Hand Drawn, Motion Graphics, etc.
  • Minimum Running Time: 30 Seconds (not including title screen)
  • Maximum Running Time: 1.5 Minutes (not including title screen)
  • Format: .mp4 /.mov
  • Subtitle: Chinese and English subtitles should be provided
  • Animations may be created by using any production techniques

 

 

Rules and Regulations

  • Each person can only participate either as an individual or as a member of one and only one group.
  • Each individual or team can submit ONE video/ animation only.
  • Seeking assistance from professional videographers or professional editors is not allowed.
  • Participants must obtain appropriate copyright authorization in advance on all clips, photos or music used.
  • Entry must be original and unpublished work.
  • GE Office reserves the right to amend the regulations and other arrangements without prior notice, the organizer’s decision on all matters relating to Competition will be final.
  • In the event of disputes, GE Office reserves the right to disqualify any entry and/or retract any award from the entrant.

 

Copyright

  • All footages, audio clips (including music) and ideas of the script used in the entry are used legally, and authorization(s) has been granted from the copyright owner(s); the participants should bear the legal responsibilities of the copyright of the entry.
  • All videos/animations submitted, no matter awarded or not, will become the property of GE Office and can be used for future promotional or educational purposes. GE Office is authorized to use all or any parts of the entries including but not limited to website releases, publications, exhibition of the entries and production of teaching kits. In all cases, no specific notification or payment will be given to the participants.

 

 

Registration

Please submit the following materials to ge@hkbu.edu.hk:

  1. Completed Registration Form(doc/docx/pdf)
  2. Declaration [Individual] [Team]
  3. Digital video file (mp4/mov) download link (e.g. Googledrive, dropbox,etc.)
  4. At least 1 Hi-Res stills (jpg/png)

 

Judging Criteria

The selection panel will consider and score each entry according to the following criteria. All awarded videos and animations should achieve not less than 45 points (out of 90 points) in the first round. GE Office reserves the right to cancel any award(s) for the entries scored below 45. Up to five outstanding work will be posted on GE Office’s Instagram and Facebook Page. They will be ranked based on the number of “Likes” both on Instagram and Facebook Page by the cutoff date and time (Noon, 16 December 2020). Judges’ decisions are final.

 

  1. Message Content (40 points)
  2. Creativity and Originality (30 points)
  3. Technical Organization (20 points)
  4. People’s Choice – Most Likes (10 points)

 

Selection

The selection consists of two rounds:
In the first round, a panel of judges will select up to five outstanding work based on the judging criteria A-C. The selected work will enter the second round and will be uploaded to GE office Instagram and Facebook Page where a poll will be created. The bonus points based on People’s choice (criterion D) will be added to the Judges’ scores. The entry received the highest score will be the Champion.

 

Prize to Winner Entry

  • Champion: HK$5,000
  • First runner-up: HK$3,000
  • Second runner-up: HK$2,000
