Integrative Learning for the Complex World
How to…
- Encourage Students to Become Active Participants in Integrative Learning
- Apply Theory to Practice for a Deeper Understanding
- Utilize Integrative Learning as a Holistic Approach to Student Learning
- Restructure General Education as an Integrative Learning Mechanism
In mid-July, a group of colleagues attended an international institute on “Integrative Learning and the Departments” in Newark, which was organized by the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U). During the 4 days, participants discussed on developing faculty and departmental leadership for advancing programs and curricula for integrative learning. These will help build students’ capacity to integrate their learning— across general education, majors, and the co-curriculum, as well as prior professional, academic, and life experiences inside and outside the classroom.
In this lunch gathering, we will have a chance to grasp the essence of the institute. Findings and fresh ideas will be shared by each of our 5 colleagues, followed by an open discussion for experience sharing.
