About the 2022 Forum on Open Learning and ePortfolios

As universities return to a new normal and reflect upon the evolution and effectiveness of instructional practices adopted as a result of demands created by COVID-19, it is imperative that student learning and student success guide decisions regarding what practices to keep and revise and what practices to diminish or jettison.  Further, it is important for the future of our democracy, of higher education, and our students that quality, equity, affordability, and access be central among the goals of this new instruction.  AAC&U’s Annual Forum on Open Learning and ePortfolios is being reframed this year with the aforementioned goals and intersections in mind.  This event will offer interactive concurrent sessions and workshop opportunities for participants to share evidence and best practices regarding how open learning, open pedagogical practices, and open educational resources are being leveraged in the service of student learning, student agency, and student success.  Relatedly, ePortfolios continue to be a key digital learning strategy as they offer opportunities to enhance student learning, success, and career development while also enabling students to learn and share openly.  Across both of those themes, the Forum will highlight a range of faculty development practices, leadership strategies, and student voices that are being leveraged to successfully prepare and facilitate campuses as they employ open learning strategies and ePortfolios.

The Forum on Open Learning and ePortfolios will showcase two tracks:

  • The Open Learning Track will highlight evidence and best practices regarding how open learning, open pedagogical practices, and open educational resources are being leveraged in the service of student learning, agency, and success; and
  • A robust ePortfolio Practice and Research Track will showcase the latest practices and research findings regarding ePortfolios.
