Racing Against the Clock: Saving Environment for the Future Generations

This course examines the most imminent climate change and environmental sustainability challenges our community faces today. Students will learn from the studies of Economics, Political Science, Environmental Science, Behavioural Science, and Sociology about the major challenges of environmental pollution, energy shortage and catastrophes, and global warming. Moreover, the potential solutions to them and the socioeconomic-cum-political factors behind the public debate and the political process to achieve such solutions will also be analysed.

This course also enables students to analyse these environmental issues from different perspectives such as a student, a member of the public community, a stakeholder in the business sector, an environmental practitioner, and a policymaker who reviews the existing problems, projects the prospects, conducts cost-and-benefit analysis for potential solutions, and actively designs institutions and policy instruments that deliver these solutions to our society.
