Have a Field Day: Outdoor Team Games

This course aims to provide students with a basic understanding of the contemporary issues of health and wellbeing, while introducing them to a wide range of outdoor sports, games and physical activities. The course will cover tactical elements of field sports including soccer and tag rugby. These physical activities will enable connection to and discussion between fitness and wellbeing, in addition to promoting a positive attitude to physical activity. The course will use transdisciplinarity to present students with a range of perspectives to health, supporting them to develop a broad understanding of the principles of a healthy lifestyle. This understanding will promote the achievement of physical health (including active living), mental wellbeing (including stress management) and social wellbeing (including social inclusion). Upon completion of this course, students will be able to clearly link a healthy lifestyle to achievement in several areas of life, and develop an appreciation of the decision making process and its associated impact. Students will practice various physical activities, supporting the development of relevant habits and interests. They will also undertake self-reflection of their own perspectives, health and wellbeing, and their experience within the subject matter.
