GDAR courses aim to foster an appreciation of the height and depth of human achievement through its literature, language, performance, culture and thought. Courses will stress critical thinking skills, creativity, and the reflection on the role of the Arts and Humanities in society.
Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs)
After completing a course in this category, students should be able to:

  1. Identify and explain the critical elements and principles that define one or more of fields of inquiry in the Arts and Humanities;
  2. Evidence a broader understanding of the place of the Arts and Humanities in human history and experience;
  3. Demonstrate a sensitivity to the importance of the Arts and Humanities in enhancing whole person education;
  4. Analyze one or more major works/art forms, or utilize sets of skills in the Arts and Humanities.

Interdisciplinary courses will be listed for 2 areas of learning (i.e. with 2 course codes starting with GDXX18XX or GDXX19XX). Students have to decide which area (outside of their own Faculty/ School/ Academy) they would like the course to fulfill.

# This is a Service Leadership Education (SLE) course. SLE is a special label for GE courses incorporating the ideals of Service Leadership. By learning from existing firms or organizations, you’ll have a chance to design service plans for different community groups!
