Students
What is Double-counting?
- All students are required to take a 3-unit Interdisciplinary GE Capstone Course or an Interdisciplinary Independent Study (GE Capstone) under the new GE Programme.
- Programmes can decide to double-count specific 3-unit GE Capstone towards the major, minor or concentration requirements of the programmes.
- If a student decide to double-count a GE Capstone, he/she has to take other course(s) as replacement to make up the 3 units to fulfil the graduation requirement.
- Programmes can assign the type of courses or specific course(s) as replacement courses; if no replacement courses are specified, students can take any courses as replacement.
Things to Note:
- GE Capstone CANNOT be counted as free electives.
- In fulfilling the overall units required for graduation, the units of the double-counted courses can only be counted ONCE.
- The double-counting policy is not applicable to students studying under the old GE curriculum.
- Double-counting of GE Capstone is only applicable to students of bulletin year 2018/19 or after.
