Art, Culture and Creativity

This course aims to offer students a broader understanding of the value of creativity in the global context. Through the study of art from different cultures, students will be able to make multiple and meaningful responses to the works of art, and hence gain a better understanding of the role of creativity through the history of human endeavours and the importance of creativity in our everyday lives. Appreciation of art enables us to understand the nature of art, from its material value to its cultural value, and to know our world better.

 

This course provides a journey through the activities, ideas, creations, institutions and impact of the human race from prehistoric times to the contemporary moment through the lenses of creativity and artistic achievement, while recognizing the influence of cultural factors on creative expression.
