SLE workshop

Your Entrepreneurial Journey to Become a Moral Service Leader
By Mr Po Chung with Mr Peter Chan and Mr Dexter Cheng

The purpose of the Service Leadership Education (SLE) Workshop III is to offer the participants an opportunity to embark on a personal entrepreneurial journey to become a Moral Service Leader.

The service era has arrived, as evident in the fact that the service sector now accounts for over 92% of the GDP in Hong Kong and other major economic centres in the world. Such a shift from a manufacturing product-based model to a service, process-based economy requires significant changes from the people and organizations in order to succeed in the new era:

  • A transformation from a manufacturing mindset of top-down control to a service mindset of people engagement and inspiration;
  • Focus on the “being” of the leaders, defined by their core qualities in terms of Competence, Character, Care and Collaboration;
  • The design of a business habitat conducive to and leadership practices congruent with services.

The SLE Workshop III consists of two parts:

The first part will be a 5-day “Train-the-Trainer” programme with an optional session on Storytelling for Leaders.

The Train-the-Trainer programme will focus on the “How” of the Service Leadership.  It is structured in modules, specifically covering the above three transformational areas:

Module 1: Creating Awareness and Buy-in to Service Leadership Concepts
Module 2: Building Personal Moral Service Leadership
Module 3: Nurturing a Healthy Habitat

The Workshop is designed to be intensive and highly interactive, allowing ample opportunities for participants to share and brainstorm ideas with interested parties on common concerns.

There will be built-in train-the-trainer sessions, in which participants can enhance their facilitation skills through role plays and practice, and to gain an in-depth understanding on the purpose, debriefing and linkage between topics.

In the above co-creating processes, participants are expected to acquire a deeper understanding of themselves and their organizations, generating insights on possible applications and solutions in real life challenges.

The content of the SLE Workshop is based on Mr. Po Chung’s years of experience, insights and wisdom as an entrepreneur, a corporate and civic service leader, as well as an educator in the tertiary education.

The highlight of the second part of the SLE Workshop II is “Service Leaders Talk” where prominent leaders will be invited to share his/her knowledge and experience on how to teach and/or implement service leadership in the 21st Century – Service Leadership in Action.
