What is the course about?

Investigating different communities in Hong Kong, GDSS1045 will guide students through the social labyrinth of rapid economic and social changes and understand the way that particular places foster successful social network and initiative. Customs, traditions, social networks, memories, values and sense of place are essential elements of valuable community life. How do these elements being cultivated? How could we capitalize these elements to rebuild our community and urban life? Focusing on personal mechanisms, this course seeks to lead student to develop a new ‘people center’ way for urban development.
