What is the course about?

GDAR1025 critically examines a variety of love discourses, in print and visual forms, and helps students understand the emotional, physical, historical, political, and ideological dimensions of love. This course studies different love styles in all of its (feudalistic, romantic, modern, and postmodern) forms, placing special emphasis on gender, ethical, and cross-cultural issues in love relationships. Topics covered may include the love-shyness, limerence, friendship, companionate love, passionate love, obsession, unrequited love, ludus, pragma, marriage, betrayal, sexual abuse, divorce, and death.
